HCWA is a federal government program that is committed to providing improved support for children aged 0-7 years diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and their families and carers.
HCWA Funding used to be implemented through the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) and is still sometimes referred to as FaHCSIA Funding. It is in fact now administered under the Department of Social Service (DSS).
HCWA provides a one off package of $12,000 of early intervention therapy and services for children with ASD until their 7th birthday. Funding can be used for individual therapy and group therapy as well as equipment and teaching materials.
HCWA funding can only be used at or through a service recognised as a HCWA provider in early intervention services.
