Welcome to Kalparrin

WHAT IS KALPARRIN ECI?

Kalparrin Early Childhood Intervention Program is committed to helping young children with a disability and/or developmental delay to thrive and realise their potential.

Kalparrin has a long history of working with children with a disability and with their families and was established in 1976 by a group of parents meeting in their homes to provide mutual support for each other. It is now one of the major providers in the Northern Region of Melbourne of specialised early intervention services including teaching, therapy programs and family support.

What is Early Childhood Intervention?

Early Childhood Intervention Services (ECIS) support children with a disability or developmental delay from birth to school entry and their families.  ECIS provides special education, therapy, counselling, service planning and co-ordination, assistance and support to access services such as kindergarten and child care.  Services are tailored to meet the individual needs of the child and focussed on supporting the child in their natural environments, in their everyday experiences and activities.  These services are funded through the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) and provided by Specialist Children's services teams and Early Childhood Intervention agencies.

Current Kalparrin ECI students with their two different types of brand new walkers, Mikayla, 4 years, and Ashlee, 3 years, having fun in the soapy water.

The aim of these services is to provide parents and families with the knowledge, skills and support to meet the needs of their child and to optimise the child's development and ability to participate in family and community life.  All services are provided using a family-centred approach, recognising the importance of working in partnership with the family.

Message from the Board of Management

Well, we are half way through the year and hope that your children are enjoying their time at Kalparrin. We love to look in on sessions at Kalparrin and watch our dedicated staff work to help your children develop useful skills while they play.
As a Board, we have asked Kalparrin management to update our policies, procedures and to develop a Strategic Plan for the entire organisation. Through this we will improve the efficiency of our procedures, ensure our organisation is in line with ever changing legislation, develop career path options for staff, and give our organisation a vision for what we would like to achieve over the next five years.
This process is now underway and we appreciate the willingness management and staff have shown. It is a huge task, so if anyone is in a position to volunteer some time, we would like advice or assistance from people with experience in the fields of Marketing, Fundraising, OH&S, Human Resources or IT. If you think you can help, please
Conntact Kerry Smithies at Kalparrin or by email at Manager@kalparrin.com.au

Bet wishes to you all.
